Would you pay to see the Bush death film?
Newmarket Films set itself an unusual challenge when it decided to release the controversial faux investigative documentary “Death of a President” just six weeks after acquiring the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival last month.
But it might face an even more formidable obstacle because several major theater chains are refusing to play the film, which mixes real news footage with dramatized segments depicting the fictional 2007 death of President Bush.
Newmarket, the 12-year-old Los Angeles-based film financing, production and distribution company, plans to open the film October 27, just in time for the November 7 election.
“Yes, it’s controversial,” Newmarket co-founder Chris Ball said. “It’s quite a compelling political thriller. In many ways it is sympathetic to George Bush. It talks about a rush to judgment. In no way is it a call for violence.”
But the country’s largest theater chain, Regal Entertainment Group, has passed on playing the film, citing
I most definitely would not. I wouldn’t go no matter who the President was.
How much money does a news cameraman make?
I’m a senior in college, film/video major, thinking of applying at local news stations for a job as a camera man/editor. However, they ask you to include your salary requests, and I have no idea what a reasonable salary would be. Any camera men out there? What’s a good salary for a starting out videographer?
How come the Republican Agenda Fox News gave Michael Moose’s new film STUNNING reviews?
I thought Fox News had a STRONG Republican bias, and that everything they reported on furthered the Republican Agenda.
And yet they gave Michael Moore’s new movie “Sicko” a FANTASTIC review:

Last I heard, Moore was NOT a Republican. So, could it be that Fox News is REALLY unbiased, and maybe it is the LIBERAL news programs that paint them that way?
Or, do you think (and the Liberals are going to love this one) they are only doing it to trick us into believing they are unbiased? Those scoundrels!
Or maybe reality has a Conservative bias! I know this sounds dumb also, but I have heard Liberals use this as an excuse for MSNBC.
So, why is Fox News giving this movie such good reviews, if they are part of the Republican machine? No matter what, I will rent it when it comes out on video (no way I’m giving Moore $15). If Fox News likes it, it must be good.
If i made a video documentary on “what a country’s independence means”, what would i film?
I got a task from school to film a video documentary in any form. it can in the form of a news report, music video, anything! as long as it explains what a “country’s independence” means.
Now to make it interesting, how should i make it so it gets a good grade and attracts attention. Oh, and since I’m only 14, don’t suggest ideas beyond by 14 year old capabilities…thanks
I wonder whether this is news in America?
The inquest of a British TV journalist, killed in the Iraq invasion, has concluded that he was unlawfully killed by American troops.
The journalist was injured by Iraqi fire, and was then transferred into a Red Crescent minibus. A tank then opened fire on the ambulance and killed him. The film that accompanied this news story showed American troops firing on another Red Crescent minibus.
The Pentagon has rejected the verdict.
I wonder whether this news has been shown on the American media.
Does it bother you seeing Amish people plastered all over the papers, internet, and news?
In response to the shooting in Lancaster County, I have seen multiple photos and film clips with the Amish plastered all over the media. These people are dealing with enough trauma, it is unthinkable to me that in our news coverage, we have to capture them on film so blatantly, which goes against Amish beliefs.
Of course some pics and video is going to get an individual in the background and there are some creative ways to get pictures such as in silhouette. But CNN.com (and they aren’t the only ones) has a closeup of an Amish man talking to someone right on the FRONT PAGE! And other media features closeups of Amish children playing, and Amish bystanders at the school milling around consoling each other. I think this is horribly disrespectful.
Please reporters and photographers…show some tact.
dh1977 you are misinformed about the taxes, and I disagree with you about a lot of things in your answer but thanks for the commentary.
In fact, the Amish DO pay taxes, and accept almost no help. They pay property taxes to fund schools that their children do not attend. They pay income and sales taxes. All citizens have the right to police and fire protection, even people of deep faith that separates them from larger society.
Other points: there are no food restrictions in the Amish faith. While some loopholes seem to water down things a bit when you look from the outside, understand these make a LOT of concessions to live with their faith.
I’m sure there must be some unique problems when the two worlds collide.
Yes if you weigh the two, anyone else who has commented, please know that I agree the shooting is a much bigger violation than the media. Just seems to me that we should be more sensitive as outsiders than to violate them even more. It’s self-serving on our part.
