I’m doing a research article on the representation of trees in the world of Walt Disney, whether that be the movies, theme park or in Walt’s own life. I’ve looked on numerous websites, but there’s nothing about trees as a theme and what they mean in the movies, etc. I know this is a very odd topic, but I think it would be really interesting provided I can find the right information.

“Forests have always had deep-rooted symbolic meaning in virtually every culture on earth. Forests are the abode of the nature spirits. Forests are a refuge from danger as well as a source of dangerous wild animals. Forests are mysterious and constantly changing.” More on tree symbolism can be found at the website listed below, and you can probably draw a parallel between such movies as Snow White and the dark forest where the evil witch resides and so on.

The trees outside the castle in Disneyland Paris are symbolic as they are square trees, to represent the square trees at the opening of Sleeping Beauty; after all, it is Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
